Mariodawg, I checked all my sources for photos before doing the final print of my book. That press preview occurred 40 years ago. The magazine guys used black and white film religiously. Someone did take some color photos of that press preview back in the summer of '69, but I don't know who did, or where the film is now.

I have the chronology of the ZL-1 test mule in my book. That car was available to the press in the summer of 1969 as the 1970 models were delayed, and the 1969 models continued through December 1969.

The blue that was used for the stripe was most probably a color that was taken directly out of the Chevrolet paint chip catalog from 1969.

Sounds like your Corvette is going to be really nice when its finished!!

I know what you mean Jose. But to be honest with you, I would not mind having an additional battery cell giving me a little extra boost on long distance trips! Pete

Hello Corvette Pete! Dr. Pete, I bought your book, and we (the wife and I) love it! I was thrilled to see a photo of Zora's white ZL-1 "Test Car" sporting a blue stripe for a "Press Day"---I am thinking in August of 1968. Since we've seen that photo, I have tirelessly combed the Internet for more photos of that car with the stripe---but have come up empty. My wife and I are restoring a 1970 Convertible, and we are going to go with that white-with-blue-stripe paint scheme (I did purchase a Carousel 1 1:18 scale model of the car, so that has helped). But more photos---especially color photos---would be awesome. Can you help me? Thanks! Mariodawg
